A 79-year-old man and an 87-year-old female, both from Denver, died Saturday in a crash near mile marker 22 on Colo. 115.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred at 11:46 a.m. Saturday just north of Beaver Creek Hill and involved two vehicles, a 2019 Subaru driven by the male (headed southbound) and a 2003 Ford SUV driven by the woman (headed northbound).

CSP reports that the Subura drifted into the northbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the SUV. All parties were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, but suspicion of driving under the influence is being investigated on the part of the deceased Subaru driver, according to CSP.

A 77-year-old female passenger of the Subaru was airlifted via flight for life as she sustained serious injuries.

The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
