Julie Bertram, Assistant Professor of Nursing at University of Missouri–St. Louis, has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing education.
Dr. Bertram has obtained a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Master of Science in psychiatric and mental health nursing in 1999 from the Saint Louis University Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing and later continued her education with a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership and policy Studies in 2017 from the University of Missouri in St. Louis.
Dr. Bertram provided superior care as a staff nurse from 1993 to 2008 with St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis and imparted her knowledge as assistant professor of nursing from 1999 to 2017 with the Saint Louis University Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing and with the University of Missouri–St. Louis from 2016 to the present. In addition, she has served as a nurse consultant with the Missouri Alliance for Children and Families since 2010.
Dr. Bertram has a position on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurses, is a community partner with the Children's Permanency Partnership and is an officer with the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She has presented at numerous nursing conferences and published learned articles in publications such as Archives of Psychiatric Nursing and Creative Nursing.
Among Dr. Bertram's awards garnered for excellence in nursing and nursing education are a Distinguished Service Award for Teaching from Saint Louis University, a First Place Best Scholarship Poster Award from the ISPN Psychopharmacology and Annual Conference and a Dissertation and Travel Fellowship Award from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Dr. Bertram became involved in her profession because in high school she desired to be in a service- oriented profession and she was interested in healthcare. She had a neighbor friend whose mother was a nurse and her role model. In coming years, she hopes to have tenure and wishes to publish the research that she is doing to improve quality of care.
