Title: Registered Nurse Case Manager
Company: Adventist Health
Location: Melbourne, Florida, United States

Margarita Jackson, Registered Nurse Case Manager at Adventist Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing and nursing administration.

Following obtaining a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) from Elizabeth Seton College in Yonkers, New York in 1982, Ms. Jackson followed with an Associate of Applied Science in nursing in 1988 from the McConnell-Clark School of Nursing in New York and continued her education with a Master of Science in nursing and nursing education from Walden University in Minneapolis in 2012.

Ms. Jackson provided superior care as a staff nurse with North Shore University Hospital from 1992 to 1996, an administrative supervisor with Maria Parham Hospital from 1996 to 2002, and as a staff nurse with Rex Hospital from 2003 to 2006, Wake Med from 2003 to 2006, Florida Hospital in 2006, Roy Lester Schneider Hospital from 2006 to 2007 and Cape Coral Hospital from 2007 to 2009. She then excelled as a utilization review case manager with Cape Coral Hospital from 2007 to 2010, case manager with Prestige Health Choice in Fort Myers from 2010 to 2014, a department supervisor with Health First in Rockledge from 2014 to 2017 and a registered nurse case manager with Adventist Health and a case manager with Venice Regional Medical Center from 2018 to the present.

Ms. Jackson has garnered a Nursing Clinical Excellence Award from the Florida Nurses Association and has served as a registered nurse in the Medical Reserve Corps since 2017. In addition, she has volunteered as a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) Instructor with the American Heart Association for 10 years and served with the adjunct clinical faculty with Nova Southeastern University in Fort Myers from 2012 to 2014.

Ms. Jackson attributes her success to her patients, who are her main source of motivation to succeed as a professional. Early in her career, she would often be assigned to difficult patients, which helped her develop her ability to deal with them and make conversations with them easier. She passed on this skill to her students when she was an adjunct professor, always encouraging them to apply themselves rather than rely on theory.

As a career highlight, Ms. Jackson is most pleased with her work in health fairs. In conjunction with her participation in civic organizations such as the Lions Club, she conducted blood pressure and glucose screenings, as well as retinal exams, collaborating with college aides in campuses. She also counseled patients diagnosed with prostate cancer as to their next steps. Among the reasons she enjoyed engaging in community work in colleges was the fact that she helped detect health issues of college students who went through the exams. In the coming years, she intends to engage in consulting work after her retirement. She also hopes to continue increasing her public presence as a panel speaker in conferences.
