Upper Egypt's most significant crop is citrus. In Upper Egypt, 150 contaminated samples were taken from citrus samples (Navel orange, Tangerine, and Lemon), 50 from each fruit. On dichloran chloramphenicol-peptone agar (DCPA) medium at 27°C, twenty-two isolates of three Alternaria species belonging to A. sect. Ulocladioides and A. sect. Ulocladium were isolated. Alternaria species were found in greater numbers in Tangerine samples, followed by Navel orange samples, and no Alternaria species were found in Lemon samples. The isolates were identified as Alternaria atra, Alternaria botrytis, and Alternaria oudemansii based on the Alt a1 gene. The pathogenicity of the isolates was determined by inoculating healthy navel oranges with them. The results revealed that all of the isolates examined were pathogenic to healthy navel oranges to varying degrees ranging from 31.51 to 201 mm, with A. oudemansii having a low virulent impact. The capacity of tested isolates to create mycotoxins revealed that roughly 83 percent of them were TeA toxin makers, with amounts ranging from 1.54 to 18.47 ug/ml.
