This Point of Care Ultrasound PDF textbook's 1st Edition is a very easy-to-read, well-organized, and well-put-together introduction to point-of-care ultrasound. This textbook is written in clear, simple language that goes well with PoCUS courses and electives. There are several good reasons to buy the second edition:
1) Lots of new content that shows how PoCUS is constantly changing (notable sections on TEE and hemodynamics). 2) Multimedia playback has improved, both in Apple apps and on web browsers. 3) A lot of new clinical cases give the learner a chance to practice naming structures and spot disease.
And the great news is the 2nd edition of this book has been released! Thank you very much to the authors! To download the 2nd edition of the Point of Care Ultrasound PDF please use the download link provided here!
Summary of Point of Care Ultrasound PDF
Point-of-care ultrasound PDF (POCUS) book has been shown to make procedures safer, speed up and improve the accuracy of diagnoses, and boost confidence in clinical decision-making. POCUS is one of the few new technologies that brings doctors and nurses closer to their patients by putting them right at the bedside. This makes the experience better for both the doctors and the patients.
The first edition of the Point-of-Care Ultrasound PDF came out in 2014. It set up a way for people in different fields that use various bedside ultrasound applications to share knowledge. Since the book was first published, it has been translated into Chinese and Spanish, and thousands of copies have been sold worldwide.
Now that more providers know what POCUS is, they use this book/PDF to learn how to use it. Due to ultrasonography's visual and moving nature, this book's online video version is a decadent way to learn about it.
Point of Care Ultrasound is written like a handbook and has short chapters, high-yield figures, and practical teaching points that make it appealing to busy clinicians who want to learn more about ultrasound.
The authors have added more information to this second edition in many ways.
First, they added six new chapters on hemodynamics, transesophageal echocardiography, the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, pediatrics, neonatology, and transcranial ultrasound.
Second, they grew the number of online videos from about 300 to over 1000, showing both normal and abnormal ultrasound findings.
Third, they added new clinical cases and review questions at the end of each chapter to emphasize the most important things to learn from each chapter.
Lastly, they kept up with how quickly this field was changing by updating each chapter's literature, pictures, and figures. The principles and broad applications of POCUS that can be used by health care providers from any field or practice setting are explained in detail.

Overall, Point of Care Ultrasound PDF is a beautiful book. I wish it talked more about what to do if you're having trouble getting a good window. The text is much less about getting the image and a lot more about how to interpret it. Still, it's a good thing to have. The US videos in the eBook are great!
