A wildfire is burning on the back side of Keystone in an area where a controlled burn took place Friday, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

Personnel with the U.S. Forest Service were heading to the fire Saturday, the sheriff's office said.

"Great day burning piles in Keystone Gulch today," the White River National Forest said in a Wednesday tweet. "Crews burned 1,000 piles! Just 200 left for tomorrow's operation."

"Our firefighters only burn piles on days when conditions on the ground and weather forecasts are ideal for a safe, effective burn and good smoke dispersal," forest officials said on Twitter.

The sheriff's office tweet Saturday included a photograph showing smoke billowing on a mountain near a chairlift. A second photo showed smoke rising from a mountainside with downed timber and standing pine trees.

The Saturday night forecast for the area calls for a chance of rain showers giving way to snow showers after 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. It will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low of about 37 degrees. Winds will gust to about 33 mph. Little or no snow accumulation is expected, and the chance for overnight precipitation is 40%.

Skies will be mostly sunny on Sunday, with a high temperature near 60 degrees and winds gusting to about 33 mph, the weather service said. There's a 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
