Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Walter pursued an education at Payson High School, from which she graduated as Valedictorian in 1971. She subsequently continued her academic efforts at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, physics and mathematics education in 1985. Following these accomplishments, Ms. Walter concluded her studies with a Master of Arts in mathematics at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Beyond her primary professional responsibilities, Ms. Walter has been active as a member of the National Educators Association. Moreover, she has been incredibly dedicated to her family, which includes her husband of 36 years, George, and her fifteen wonderful children. Ms. Walter has been likewise grateful for her 31 amazing grandchildren and her blessed great-grandchild.
Attributing her success to her devotion to her students, colleague and family, Ms. Walter is exceptionally proud of having made an impression upon her classrooms, as former students contact her more than 20 years after their graduation with pleasant memories of their interactions. Motivated by the need to raise her children as a single mother, she fondly recalls the challenging experience of obtaining a bachelor's degree while raising eight children by herself. Looking toward the future, Ms. Walter advises the next generation of teachers to eschew the concept of deadlines and embrace different ways to teach their curriculum so that kids may learn to love their subjects.
