Gear up for the annual "Tour de Coal Town" bike ride/fun run on Sept. 10. The Florence Pioneer Museum and Research Center is again sponsoring this leisurely bike ride through the coal towns west of Florence. Registration papers are on the Museum's website that can be downloaded and mailed. Or come into the Museum during business hours and pick up the papers at 100 E. Front St. Registration papers will also be available at the Florence Post Office.

If pre-registration is received by Aug. 10, t-shirts will be available for the ride. Adult registration is $20, children between 12 and under are $10. The Museum always gives a gift to the riders; this year it's a choice between Florence Historic Picture Playing Cards or the Historic Wetmore Picture Playing Cards, one deck per family please.

Registration is available the day of the Tour at 8 a.m. at the Museum. The ride will start at 9 a.m. Riders will go from the Museum to Williamsburg Town Hall to Rockvale Town Hall to Caol Creek Town Hall and end up at Pioneer Park in Florence for a hamburger/hot dog lunch by Holcim. The ride takes about two hours. Along the way, collect cards for a Poker Run. At the lunch, we'll see who has the best poker hand. There will be "helpers" on the way to pick you and your bike up if some of the hills get a little tough. Those of you with electric bikes might get done a bit quicker. Lunch will be served between 11-11:30 a.m.

Join the fun, Sept. 10. http://www.florencepioneermuseum.org.
