He also heads UCLA's genomes and neuroscience core facilities (The Informatics Center for Neurogenetics and Neurogenomics, The UCLA Neuroscience Genomics Core, and The Biological Samples Processing Core). He is the Director of the NINDS-funded Neurobehavioral Genetics Postdoctoral Training Program and the Co-Director of UCLA Neuroscience. Dr Freimer earned an M.D. from Ohio State University, completed psychiatric residency training at the University of California, San Francisco, and a postdoctoral fellowship in human genetics (at Columbia University). After ten years on the faculty at UC San Francisco, he joined the faculty of UCLA in 2000. Dr Nelson is linked with a number of local institutions, including Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA and UCLA Medical Center. He has been practicing law for almost 20 years.
