Carefully crafted quilts, table runners, and totes are just a few of the items available for bidding at the First Stitches Silent Quilt Auction, going on now through Dec 15.
First Stitches Sewing Stores and Quilt Shops in Pueblo and Cañon City create quilt samples throughout the year to highlight new fabric arrivals and new patterns. These samples encourage skill building and growth in their customers, as well as inspiration. First Stitches decided to use these samples to benefit the homeless in the communities where they live.
There are over 30 quilts, totes, and tablerunners on display for the silent auction at both the Cañon City and Pueblo First Stitches locations. Visitors may peruse the samples and place a bid on the ones they like. Bids are accepted until December 15th and winners will be notified.
All proceeds go to Loaves and Fishes in Cañon City and the Homeless Shelter in Pueblo to help with their Holiday needs.

Fremont County PERA Retirees holiday luncheon slated for Dec. 9
Fremont County PERA Retirees holiday luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 9, at the Abbey.
Lunch is served at Noon. Cost of lunch is $16. First-time attendees are free guests. Reservations are required. Anyone wanting to participate in the "Yankee Gift Exchange" may bring a gift costing no more than $15. Please respond by Dec 5, by calling Mary Ann at 719-250-1634.
Rotary 2023 Calendar showcases the beauty of Fremont County and provides scholarships
The Rotary Club of Cañon City's Fremont County calendar for 2023 is now available for purchase. The calendar features photos taken by Rotarians or family members that exhibit the beauty of our area, making it the perfect gift for family, friends and visitors to the area. Proceeds from calendar sales support the "Let There Be Light" (LTBL) scholarship fund. Scholarships are for first generation college students who are graduates of Cañon City High School.
Cost of the calendar is $15, but the ability to help a student receive an education is priceless!
