He completed his internal medicine and radiation oncology residencies at UCLA and his fellowship in medical oncology at UCSF. He is the former president and head of the American College of Radiation Oncology. Dr Demanes is an expert in brachytherapy, a branch of radiation oncology that focuses on surgery. In 1981, he established the California Endocurietherapy Center (CET) and has conducted over 10,000 surgical radiation implantation. Dr Demanes was a pioneer in the use of high-dose-rate brachytherapy to prostate, head-and-neck, breast, gastrointestinal, and gynecologic cancers. His study investigates the unique use of brachytherapy in cancer treatment. DrDavid is linked with a number of regional institutions, including Alta Bates Summit Medical Center-Oakland and UCLA Medical Center. He has been practicing law for almost 20 years.
