The Rialto Theater presents two musical performances in January at 209 W. Main St. in Florence. Tickets are $10 for each performance and are available at Big D's SuperFoods, City Market, online at https://historicrialtotheater.org/ or at the box office.
The first is at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 featuring The Springstown Shakers. This group represents the Pikes Peak Blues Community at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn. This concert is a fundraiser to help them raise money to cover travel expenses.
The second concert is at 7 p.m. Jan. 14, featuring Lobo Loggins. He is hosted by the Rialto Rose Acoustic Society.
Library to host Bill Bennington
The CaƱon City Public Library will host Bill Bennington, a former associate professor at College of Grando in Arizona, at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at 516 Macon Ave. Bennington will share his photos, stories and knowledge of the Dine` (Translation is "The People" in Navajo) and the area. First Interstate Bank collected, donated 12,232 clothing items from Coats and More Drive
Team members from First Interstate Bank, a $33 billion community bank with more than 300 branches across 14 states, recently collected and donated 12,232 clothing items from its annual Coats and More Drive to help keep community members warm this winter.
Items collected included coats, hats, mittens, scarves, socks and snow boots, and were given to local nonprofits, including schools, child and family services, senior centers and veteran outreach programs.
Since starting the drive in 2009, First Interstate has collected and distributed 63,532 total items to community partners and schools.
"A special thank you to our clients and employees who participated in the 14th annual Coats and More Drive," said Amberly Pahut, Executive Director of First Interstate BancSystem Foundation. "The winter months can be particularly difficult for some of our neighbors, and together, we have helped spread warmth around our communities."
