Spreading Holiday Cheer, with more than Beer: The Giving Tree kicks off in Florence

Florence Brewing Company recently announced that they are partnering with Nature's Educators for the 2022 Giving Tree. This year, 21 families with 56 children have applied for The Giving Tree, which is a program to assist families with gifts for children of Fremont County.

Nature's Educators, a Fremont County non-profit organization with a mission to inspire individuals to understand, respect and conserve wildlife through educational programming and experiences, felt like this would be a great project to be involved with.

"Nature's Educators is a 501c3 educational wildlife program - the largest in the state - housed right here in Florence," says Devin Jaffe, Founder and Executive Director of Nature's Educators. "We are partnering with FBC for the Giving Tree as we feel educational outreach and community connections are extremely important. We visit thousands of individuals each year to teach about why wildlife and wild places are important and why we need to conserve them. Many of our audience members are children and they need your help! Thank you for your consideration of the Giving Tree."

Patrons can now come to the taproom at Florence Brewing Company, 200 S. Pikes Peak Ave., in Florence and select tags from the tree with the child's age, gender (no names), and a list of items that each child needs (clothing, boots, etc) and wishes for (toys, electronics, bikes, etc). Unwrapped items are due back to the brewery by Dec. 16. The staff and volunteers also spend a day purchasing additional items so that each child receives presents in a fair quantity. To accomplish this, monetary donations can be made at the brewery as well. People can also sign up to be part of Santa's Street Squad, to help with fundraising efforts. They are also accepting donations of wrapping items and non-perishable foods for the families. If you are able to help in any way possible this holiday season, organizers "implore you to give where you live."

Natural Grocers Launches In-Store Holiday Food Bank Fundraiser and Food Drive

Natural Grocers announces an in-store holiday fundraiser for its established food bank partners, through Dec. 31. This campaign is in addition to the company's ongoing "Bring Your Own Bag" program, which donates five cents per shopping trip to local food bank partners whenever customers bring in their own reusable bags.

Customers can contribute throughout the holidays in two ways:

Donate $1, $5, or $10 at the register. These funds will go directly to the same food bank that currently receives donations from Natural Grocers through their "Bring Your Own Bag" Program.

Purchase and donate non-perishable Natural Grocers items, collected at the front of the store. These donations will go directly to the local food bank partner or local food pantry that currently receives food donations from the company.
