Candidates to be the next City of Florence city manager will be available for an in-person meet-and-greet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Florence Junior/Senior High School Commons area.
The Florence City Council hired Columbia ltd, a professional search firm, to assist in the location and hiring of the next city manager Nov. 29. Founder and owner Andrew Gorgey had hoped to bring at least 12-18 candidates to the council's attention by early this year and, according to Councilman Steve Wolfe during the Feb. 6 meeting, a total of 31 applicants were initially received.  Nine of the applicants were in-state, 21 were out-of-state, and even one candidate was from Canada.
The council narrowed their search to four candidates according to the City of Florence's website they include:
-- Louis Fineberg: current Town Manager of Creede. Fineberg has a Master's of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University and has 15 years of municipal government work experience. His previous positions include Town Manager of Silverton and Planning Director for Trinidad and Taos, N.M.
-- Michael Foote: current Township Manager for Lancaster Township, Pa. Foote has a Master's of Public Administration from the University of Wyoming and has 14 years of experience in municipal government. Previous positions include Borough Manager for Indiana, Pa., and Sustainability/Waste Manager for Reading, Pa., and Gillette, Wyo.
-- Sharon Jakubowski Wolz: current Town Manager of Kearmy, Ariz. Jakubowski Wolz has a Master's of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and three years of experience in municipal government. She also has experience as a homeschool administrator and adjunct professor at Mt. San Jacinto College, Calif.

Nasta has a Master's in Organizational Psychology from Northcentral University and nine years of experience in municipal government, including years as City Clerk and Senior Management Analyst. She also has experience working with the Kansas City Zoo and Walt Disney Company.
During the Feb. 6 city council meeting, Wolfe said that the council hoped to conduct interviews with the four candidates March 2-3.
