There will be a Jazz Orchestra Concert at 7 p.m. on April 11 at the FJSHS auditorium and will feature jazz bands from Florence and Canon City High Schools.
Presale tickets are on sale now. They are $16 and a portion of each ticket sale directly benefits the Florence and Canon City band programs.
The jazz bands use this money to pay for travel, music, and instruments. The Florence High School Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 are traveling to the UNC Greeley Jazz festival on April 21. It is one of the largest jazz festivals in this part of the country. They will be spending the night and competing for a rating as well as getting a clinic from world-famous jazz musicians. This is a great way for them to preview their UNC concert.
Both jazz bands will get a clinic from the Hot Tomatoes before the concert and will be playing a combined piece with them at the concert.
The Hot Tomatoes is a professional jazz band from the Denver area that travel the country playing jazz music.
This is a great opportunity to showcase all the great work that band students do throughout the year.
