A father and son from Highlands Ranch are facing federal charges in connection with the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
David Christian Tyner and his son, Christian Peter Tyner, were arrested on June 21 on charges of knowingly entering a restricted building; disorderly conduct in a restricted building; disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and demonstrating in a Capitol building, according to a U.S. Department of Justice database of Capitol breach cases.
The two men entered the Capitol from an east Rotunda door shortly after 3 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2021 — after it was breached by rioters, according to court documents.
David Tyner was wearing a red bandana wrapped around his face, goggles and a black beanie, according to an FBI document that outlines the accusations. Christian Tyner wore a Trump-branded beanie and a red bandana as a facemask, along with tinted ski goggles.
David Tyner twice confronted a line of police officers that was pushing people out of the building, and then he and his son walked out about eight minutes after entering, the FBI report said. Once outside, the Tyners removed their bandanas.

The Tyners were identified by confidential sources who saw their faces on public videos and pictures, the FBI report said.
During a Jan. 27, 2021, interview with FBI agents, David Tyner said the two had traveled to Washington, D.C., from Colorado two days earlier on a father-son trip. They attended then-President Donald Trump's rally, where he made false claims about the outcome of the presidential election.
On their way back to the hotel, the father and son joined a crowd moving toward the Capitol but "had no idea what was going on," the report said.
David Tyner said "that's definitely me" when he was shown pictures from the riot inside the Capitol, the FBI report said, but also told the agent that he and his son did not go inside.
A picture included in the FBI document shows Christian Tyner wearing a bandage wrapped around his head with blood trickling down his face. The father told FBI agents that his son was hurt when Capitol police tried to move people off the east steps, but investigators could not find video evidence to confirm or refute his claims, the report said.
The Tyners are at least the 18th and 19th people with Colorado ties to be arrested in connection with the insurrection, according to the FBI database.
