Though Zenity Medicine has been open for just more than a year, owner Ashley Trujillo quickly realized she had outgrown her space on Cyanide Avenue and looks forward to her grand reopening at 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at her new location, 206 Main St.
A unique business, Zenity Medicine offers a variety of health-related services. Trujillo, a Cañon City native and a board-certified nurse practitioner, decided it was time to give back to her beloved community and has already garnered an impressive clientele.
During a week, Trujillo sees up to 40 people for a variety of wellness issues, such as compensation and pension claims for disabled veterans, IV hydration therapy, weight loss programs, and much more. She's also able to evaluate for medical marijuana cards.
Trujillo completed her nurse practitioner training and schooling in 2021 and, rather than working at a corporate-owned hospital or doctor's clinic, decided she could fill a need in Fremont County.
"I wanted to give back to my local community so I kinda found some things that are interesting to me as a provider and just decided to bite the bullet and try it and see how it worked out," she said.
The idea for Zenity Medicine came to Trujillo one day as she waited for a drink at Sonic on U.S. 50 and the name rapidly came together, as well.
"I was always more interested in wellness," she said. "And when you think of wellness you think of calm and relaxing. So I was thinking zen ... and tranquility and then I figured, 'Why not zenity?'"
Though she's currently the only provider at her Cyanide Avenue location, she will have the assistance of an LPN (who is also her mother, Mary Herman) to assist in looking after her rapidly growing client list after moving to Main Street.
"I'm excited to make the move to Main Street, I think my clientele is going to increase a lot," she said.
The grand re-opening Sept. 15 will be full of fun for the afternoon and will include a ribbon-cutting, both sugar-filled and healthy snacks and drinks, and a raffle for a free IV hydration session. Additionally, Trujillo will offer discounts on various services to those who attend the re-opening for use at a later date.
Zenity Medicine has a comprehensive list of services available and can be viewed at https://www.zenitymedicine.com/. The business is cash pay only as insurance is not a component of the business.
