I am a 52-year-old male with hemochromatosis. I do phlebotomies once every two months and blood tests to monitor somewhat regularly. I just got results this morning and one metric is concerning. My BUN/Creatinine ratio is 29. Over the past few years it has varied between 23-17. It has never been this high. My BUN was 23 (higher than my historical level). My Creatinine was .8 (about normal for me). So something raised my BUN.  My eGFR was 106.I do not have diabetes. I have not historically had high blood pressure, but I do get bad health anxiety and it does seem to spike when I do medical tests and get results! I have recently started a beetroot supplement. Could that raise BUN? Should I stop it? In short, the only abnormality I seem to have (no other symptoms) is the BUN/creatinine ratio. How concerned should I be? I should also mention that I had Indian food the night before that gave me some diarrhea the morning of the test. I read that dehydration could affect it. How concerned would you be? Thank you!
