Cañon City High School Graduate Named to Dean's List
South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has honored 721 students for academic excellence. The university named 639 students to the Spring Dean's List. The Dean's List recognition is for full-time students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Skylar Tyler, a 2018 CCHS graduate, was involved and lettered in JROTC, Raiders, wrestling, cross country and track and field. He was on the Drill Team, exhibition, rifle team and Orienteering. In 2017 he placed 1st Place male in orienteering, 2nd place in Exhibition Armed in 2018, and was a qualifier for the 2017 and 2018 3P Air Rifle National Championship.
Tyler was nominated by Congressman Scott Tipton on Jan. 8, 2018, to a dual nomination to the United States Naval Academy or the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Serving his country was his life's dream, but due to a situation out of his control, he had to decline the nomination. Tyler decided to go to SDSM&T to study engineering and joined the Omega Chapter of Theta TAU. He graduated May 4, 2024, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Avionics and Systems Engineering. He has accepted a position at Collins Aerospace.
Hastings College honors 138th graduating class
Hastings College held its 138th Commencement on May 18. During the ceremony, the College awarded degrees to 219 undergraduates and five Master of Arts in Teaching graduates. Graduates represented 19 states and seven countries.
Rylee Marie Reid of Cañon City received a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
Before graduation, Reid was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester. For the semester, 351 students from 20 states and 11 countries were named to the Dean's List.
To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 to 4.0 scale and be registered for full-time coursework.
SNHU Announces Winter 2024 President's List
The Southern New Hampshire University congratulates the following Cañon City students on being named to the Winter 2024 President's List: Jacy Freeborn, Alexis Prewitt and Deak Long. The winter terms run from January to May.
Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.
McPherson College Announces Spring 2024 Honor Roll, Honorable Mention
McPherson College, a four-year private college located in central Kansas, recognizes its highest academic achievers in its spring 2024 Honor Roll and Honorable Mention.
Canon City High School graduate Caleb Pavlicek was named to the Honor Roll.
Students must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.55 or higher during the last term to qualify for the honor roll. Students earning a grade point average of 3.25 to 3.54 are named to the honorable mention.
