A man jumped to his death from one of the upper floors inside the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse in downtown Denver and injured two other people Thursday morning, police said.
The courthouse was closed after the incident, Colorado Judicial Department spokeswoman Suzanne Karrer said.
Denver police initially reported that a person jumped or fell inside the building at 8:07 a.m. Officials updated that around 10:23 a.m. to say investigators believed that person, an adult male, jumped.
The two other people who were injured in the incident were taken to a hospital, police said. Officials said those injuries appeared to be minor.
Dustin Martin, who arrived at the courthouse shortly after the incident, said he saw a woman security guard carried out of the building on a stretcher.
"Shortly after I arrived, they started carrying in curtains to block the surrounding area around the security check, which I would assume that is where the jumper is," he said.
Police said a death investigation is underway.
All court proceedings scheduled for today at the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse will be rescheduled, Karrer said.
Denver County Court proceedings located in the Denver City and County Building and the Van-Cise Simonet Detention Center are taking place as scheduled, spokeswoman Carolyn Tyler said.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
