Hello! My name is Madeline Radovic, and I'm a rising junior studying political science and Spanish. I'm concentrating in political theory, and that has led me to meaningful ways of getting involved with politics. During my time at Pitt, I interned for an inspiring City Council candidate, served on the Department of Political Science's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and worked with Allegheny County Department of Human Services to expand access to homeless shelters.
I will be studying abroad for the academic year at Trinity College Dublin. While planning to study abroad, I always knew that I wanted to go for a full year so I could feel like a "real" student and seriously get involved with clubs. I had been deciding between TCD and London School of Economics and Political Science. Even though I love political science, I decided not to go to a specialized school so I could have more choice. I loved English in high school but never tried it at Pitt. I am very excited to be taking classes within Trinity's well-renowned School of English this fall.
During my orientation here, I learned that students don't socialize in class, and clubs/ societies are where people make friends. I found a volunteer society that offers on-the-ground support for unhoused individuals which is really valuable to me. I'm looking forward to the first meeting!
Putting academics aside, I am so excited for the opportunities that will come with living in Europe. For example, attending concerts! I got very lucky and was able to attend the Eras Tour in London before starting my program. One of my favorite authors will be doing a book talk in Dublin, and it's only a mile away from my apartment. I'm excited for all of the new experiences I will have throughout the year.
