Letters to the Editor: Invest in the community, vote for a new swimming pool

By Michael Alcala on September 24, 2024

When I was a young mother, it was important to me that my daughters learned to swim not just for fun but as a life safety skill, especially living in a river town.

I knew that the residents of Cañon City were paying taxes to support our local Icabone pool. Many did not have children or their children were grown, yet they valued all of the children of our community to be able to have swimming lessons and to have fun and be safe.

Now that I am retired I am so happy to support with my taxes in the way that others supported opportunities for my daughters and so many other Cañon City families. Pay it forward and invest in the community, it is a small price to pay for what a pool provides.

Molly Merry,
Cañon City
