March 2025 Newsletter
Hi read,
Spring is on the way, and we're already dreaming of warm summer camp adventures! Whether you're still bundled up or spotting signs of spring, we're making the most of the season. Hope you enjoy these March stories and resources!
๐Ÿ’š OT Tip-of-the-Month for More Joy & Ease in Daily Life
When your child is having a big emotion, tantrum, or meltdown, and nothing seems to be working, try taking a deep breath. By staying calm and co-regulating, you help your child feel supported and safe, giving them the space to calm down and learn how to manage their emotions in the future.
☀️ Recommended Resource-of-the-Month:
When kids struggle with big emotions or challenging behaviors, the usual discipline strategies don't always help. Dr. Ross Greene's Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) model shifts the focus from control to collaboration—working with kids to solve problems and build important life skills. His book, The Explosive Child, offers a compassionate, practical approach to understanding and supporting kids in a way that truly helps. Learn more at Lives in the Balance.
๐ŸŒณ OKOT Story & Service Updates
That rainy day magic! At Outdoor Kids, we play outside—rain or shine. A cold, rainy day in California turned into one of our groups' favorite sessions of the year! What started as wading through an unexpected knee-high stream quickly turned into full-blown puddle jumping, running through flooded fields, and splash contests. Even kids who usually shy away from getting wet were all in, grinning ear to ear. By the end, we were cold, soaked, and exhausted… and no one wanted to leave!
