Growth Mindset, Sparking Curiosity, & Fuzzy Friends  πŸ›

May 2025 Newsletter
Hi read,
We're thrilled to share some exciting news! Outdoor Kids OT is expanding to San Francisco through our merger with Bearfoot OT, an amazing nature-based OT practice in the city. Bearfoot will wrap up its chapter in early August, and this fall, our 2 practices will be officially merged as one team here at Outdoor Kids OT.

Nothing will change for our current OKOT families in the East Bay! But if you have friends in the city who may need our services, you can send them to our newly updated website to learn more.
☀️ Recommended Resource-of-the-Month:
Understanding the difference between a fixed mindset and growth mindset can empower children to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and believe in their ability to improve. A growth mindset embraces learning through failure. This article from Big Life Journal offers clear, everyday examples and simple ways to support a growth mindset at home with your children.
πŸ’š OT Tip-of-the-Month for More Joy & Ease in Daily Life
The KEY with growth mindset is to: LET KIDS FAIL! This can be really hard as a parent. But if we overprotect children from ever making mistakes or experiencing disappointment or failure, we actually impede their growth. This is proven by loads of research. So next time your child is struggling, see if you can support them in the struggle, rather than swooping in to fix the problem for them. Even better if you can let them experience some small failure and learn from it.
🌳 OKOT Story & Service Updates
This month, our group discovered some new caterpillars in the woods, and it was such a joy to see the kids' wonder and awe as they gathered around these fuzzy creatures. It's amazing how something so simple, like a caterpillar, can capture their attention, sparking curiosity and fostering a deep connection with both each other and the natural world. Moments like these are a beautiful reminder of how nature's simplicity can bring out the best in us, encouraging exploration and strengthening bonds with the world around us.
