Hi, my name is Lynn Fields, and I am currently the Assistant Director of S3 Kit (aka Jamie’s side-kick for anything that needs to get done). Most days, I get to help lead an organization that I am passionate about, while also being blessed to be a boy-mom of 4, one who rocked a trach in 2018. In 2021, inspired by my brother Jason, I became passionate about running, and running far, and in the woods whenever possible. As I began, I used my running platform to raise money for Jack’s Basket and Ronald McDonald House, and I wondered how I could shift that momentum towards S3 Kit as I became more involved with the organization. What began as a pipe dream in 2023, as Jamie and I sat discussing our vision for S3 Kit, became a reality in 2025, called Trekkin’ 4 Trachies! Having experienced life with a child who had a tracheostomy, I deeply understand the journey that families supported by S3 Kit are navigating. Running has taught me that the pain is a small price to pay for discovering the strength I didn’t know I had. My hope is that families bringing their child home from the hospital with a tracheostomy will discover that same deep well of strength within themselves. Trekkin’ 4 Trachies (T4T) is a movement of movers. Whether you run, walk, hike, bike, crawl, or catwalk… You can sign up to do it for S3 Kit! Of course, it is simple to sign up for a traditional race and raise money (we will help you every step of the way), but you can also use your imagination and create your own adventure! In 2025, I took T4T on its inaugural journey, asking 38 people to donate $38 for my 38th birthday, running 38 miles on the Superior Hiking Trail outside of Duluth. To my delight and surprise, over 38 people joined the mission, and I surpassed my goal, wow! This year, I will run 39 miles for 39th birthday! Running for a charity has been something that, for me, makes every mile meaningful. Running when you don’t want to, running longer than you feel capable of, and remembering the why through it all makes a big difference. It blesses me to know that people around me care about what I care about and see the passion in my why for running.
