Title: Medical Director
Company: El Paso County Public Health
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States

Robin Johnson, Medical Director at El Paso County Public Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who Top doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare administration.

Dr. Johnson has spent nearly 30 years practicing medicine and health care advocacy in the Pikes Peak, Colorado region, most recently as medical director of El Paso County Public Health from 2018 to early 2022. She excelled in emergency medicine practice at UCHealth Memorial Hospital from 1988 to 2016 and has served on several county boards including TESSA, a Social services organization combatting domestic violence in Colorado Springs; Mission Medical Center; and UCHealth.

Following obtaining a bachelor's degree in 1984 from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, Dr. Johnson continued her education with a Master of Public Health and a medical doctorate in 1988 from the University of Colorado Medical School. Her professional accolades include Best Physician, awarded in 1994 by the Rocky Mountain Conference on Emergency Medicine and Nursing, and an award in 2013 from Mission Medical Clinic, a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides free healthcare to uninsured, under-insured, and low-income members of the Pikes Peak region. Dr. Johnson became involved in her profession with the inspiration of her father, who was a physician, as well as the intellectual challenge that the medical field presented in order to have an impact for the good of others.

According to Dr. Johnson, her career highlight has been the development of innovative efforts to address emerging issues related to public health. She has been involved in the development of a community navigation program with the University of Colorado and the Colorado Springs Fire Department to address overutilization of the emergency department and 911 system. Through the joint effort, they were able to develop a mobile crisis mental health response. In addition, the fire department established a community and public health division to house the programs and has expanded over the years. In coming years, Dr. Johnson hopes to explore that possibilities and opportunities the medical field is extending her. She would like to prioritize her leadership skills to help mobilize upstream initiative that changes the paradigm of how they deliver health through community impact model.
