Cognitive dissonance is a phenomena that occurs when two cognitions are out of sync with one another, causing discomfort. This study examines some previous literature (almost twenty-five (25) papers based on cognitive dissonance in order to provide a clear picture of cognitive dissonance and help people avoid stress and unpleasant feelings. A cognition is a piece of information that might take the form of a concept, an attitude, a personal value, or a particular behaviour. Every human being prefers that their cognitions be linked to their surroundings. As a result, cognitive dissonance might put a person in a difficult situation. People desire consistency in their beliefs and views, therefore this conflict causes disquiet or discomfort. This disconnect between what individuals think and how they act motivates them to take steps that will help them cope with their discomfort. Humans use a variety of techniques to deal with stress, including rejecting new information, explaining it away, or ignoring it altogether. Dissonance in thought isn't always a bad thing. It can be beneficial if we make good modifications in our views after recognising that our thoughts and actions are unusual. Not everyone has the same level of cognitive dissonance. Some people are more tolerant of irregularity and ambiguity than others. Even yet, a human's mentality will determine how to effectively accept dissonance in order to live a healthy existence.
