Children's Care - Paediatric Hematology Oncology
Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, in beautiful London, Ontario is a world-class hospital committed to multidisciplinary patient and family-centred care. As a regional referral centre, serving a population of over 1.5 million in both Southwestern Ontario and areas to the North, Children's Hospital is a major centre for providing specialized Paediatric inpatient and outpatient services to children from birth through to age 18. Internationally renowned for medical research it also serves as a teaching hospital for physicians, nurses and other health care partners. The Division of Paediatric Hematology, Oncology is seeking a Full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team.
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a self-directed nurse prepared at the graduate and post-graduate level, who functions in an expanded nursing role demonstrating an elevated level of autonomy, working to full scope, both independently and within a collaborative practice model. The NP demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge base and high degree of clinical competence in chronic disease management. The NP works collaboratively with key stakeholders to provide advanced care that optimizes patient outcomes and enhances safety, effectiveness, and accessibility. Reporting to the Manager of Children's Hospital, LHSC, the NP will provide direct and indirect patient care, promote professional education, commit to ongoing program development and advance knowledge through research and scholarly activities.
Principal responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and advanced level of clinical competence in caring for patients throughout the continuum of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care
- Working within a multidisciplinary team in both the inpatient and outpatient settings liaising with community satellite clinics and providers
- Collaborating with physician partners to support disease management, supportive goals of care, complex and parental decision making, community transitions with care plans established collaboratively with the patient and family
- Enacting a clinical leadership role in engaging in education, program development and quality improvement initiatives, advancing best practices, participating in policy and procedure development and performing other research and scholarly activities
- Participation in research and scholarly practice
All duties and responsibilities of the NP conform to professional practice standards of the London Health Sciences Centre guidelines
