[New post] Several methods are provided to calculate eGFR. One accounts for age, weight, and height. If I use this one my eGFR is 88. The plain jane version with out those corrections results in 70. Obviously, I like the 88 result, but am I fooling myself? I would think accounting for age is important since GFR decreases 1% for each year past 40 and the correction version is more accurate. Moreover, the uncorrected equation is used to calculate an eGFR for a smallish young man and applying the average of 116 to a 76 yo man would be incorrect.
