The protection values derived from tropospheric surface refractivity fluctuation in Nigeria are enumerated in this study. The analysis was carried out in four Nigerian cities utilising meteorological data from 2008 obtained from the university of Nigeria's (unn) Nsukka's centre for basic space science (cbss). Using a vantage pro II automated weather station, data was collected from four separate stations: Akure, Nsukka, Minna, and Sokoto. For the whole year, data was collected at half-hourly intervals at ground level, 0 m, and 100 m height in the troposphere. The findings of the data analysis indicated that at a height of 100 metres, With a refractivity rating of 350, Nzukka and Akure were more protected than Sokoto and Minna with a value of 250. The refractivity values become more different at ground level (0) m, with Nzukka having 500 units, Akure having 370 units, and Minna and Sokoto having the identical refractivity value of 270 units. As we moved from the south to the north, this pattern of refractivity variation revealed a diminishing order of protection against exposure to harmful effects of cosmic and out of space radiation.
