Anita Spring, PhD, Affiliate Professor at the Center for Arts, Migration & Entrepreneurship, has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

Dr. Spring brings more than 50 years of experience to her current role as an affiliate professor at the Center for Arts, Migration & Entrepreneurship. Having excelled in this position since 2019, she has also been the co-director of the China-in-Africa Working Group since 2015 and a professor emeritus at the University of Florida since 2009. Dr. Spring served the aforementioned university as a professor for more than 15 years before accepting emeritus status, and holds specific expertise in teaching courses on Africa, agricultural development, gender, entrepreneurship, health care and policy. From 2010 to 2014, she garnered experience as the director of the Sub-Saharan Business Environment Project, and in 2004, she was a consultant on democracy and governance with the U.S. Agency for International Development, with which she held numerous roles over more than two decades.

To prepare for her career, Dr. Spring attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1966, she obtained a Master of Arts from San Francisco State University, and in 1967, she earned a Master of Arts from Cornell University. Dr. Spring concluded her higher education in 1976, graduating from Cornell University with a Doctor of Philosophy. In 1979, she became a diplomate of the U.S. Department of State.

Alongside her primary roles, Dr. Spring has found success through her creative works. In 1979, she co-edited "Women in Ritual and Symbolic Roles" with Judith Hoch-Smith. She is the author of "Women Farmers and Commercial Ventures: Increasing Food Security in Developing Countries, Agricultural Development and Gender Issues in Malawi," has contributed chapters to books and has contributed articles to more than 60 professional journals. In recognition of her achievements, Dr. Spring was inducted as a National Fellow of the Explorer's Club in 2020. She received numerous research grants throughout her career, including from the University of Florida, the Center for International Business Education and Research, and the Center for African Studies. In 1996, Dr. Spring received a Fulbright Fellowship, and in 2009, she was featured in the 64th edition of Who's Who in America. In the coming years, she hopes to help people better understand entrepreneurship.
