Trach Awareness Week takes place May 17–23, 2026. It is a week dedicated to raising awareness about tracheostomies, educating the public, and supporting the individuals and families whose lives are impacted by them. Throughout the week, families, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, and hospitals come together to celebrate the strength of the trach community, share stories, and build understanding. For our community, this week is about:
Raising awareness and reducing stigma around life with a trach
Celebrating the resilience and accomplishments of trach patients and families
Supporting families as they navigate life at home after the hospital
Creating connection and reminding families that they are not alone
Every family’s journey looks different, but there is comfort in knowing there are others who understand. This year, we are excited to participate in the 2026 Trach Awareness Week Project Celebrate alongside organizations including Childhood Tracheostomy Alliance and Hello Nurze. As part of the celebration, we are offering Trach Awareness Week shirts for patients, siblings, families, caregivers, and supporters. Each nonprofit is gifting 30 pediatric hospitals around the U.S. free shirts or onesies to help children and their families celebrate Trach Awareness Week. Families and supporters can also purchase shirts, with proceeds benefiting the participating nonprofit organizations. This year’s shirt designs include the messages like “It Takes a Village” and “Trach It ‘Til You Make It.” Order your shirt by 4/24 to ensure it arrives by Trach Awareness Week! Shop for the apparel here: www.bonfire.com/store/hello-nurze/ Thank you for being part of the S3 Kit community and for helping us support children with tracheostomies and the people who love them. Together, we can help more families feel prepared, encouraged, and supported—one kit, one conversation, and one shirt at a time. |
