COVID-19 has had tremendous impact on all aspects of human endeavour in a developing nation like Nigeria. Different preventative measures were put in place by all levels of government in order to stop the spread of this illness. As a result, investigating people' health-seeking behaviour in the face of the fatal COVID-19 virus is critical in this research.
The goal of this cross-sectional survey was to look at the various health seeking behaviours that people of Oyo State, Nigeria, displayed during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, multi-stage selection approaches were utilised to choose 327 respondents, aged 22 to 51 years, from two local government districts in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria (Mean = 31.11, SD = 7.22).
The majority of responders reported one or more signs and symptoms during the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the findings. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, many of the responders reported headache as a key indicator and symptom. Furthermore, fear of being diagnosed with COVID-19 was the most significant obstacle to seeking medical help during the COVID-19 epidemic, whereas the majority of responders employed local herbs.
Conclusion and Recommendation: The COVID-19 epidemic had an impact on citizens' healthcare-seeking behaviour in Ibadan, Nigeria's Oyo state. Professional sociologists and health professionals were advised to establish health promotion and intervention programmes aimed at improving residents' health seeking behaviour during and after the COVID-19 epidemic.
