Now we're seeing what reinvention might look like: a dramatic shift from academics to job training and work-based learning. Pushed by 2024 state legislation, the State Board of Education is considering an overhaul of high-school diploma requirements. In place of having to complete a menu of coursework, students would earn what's called a GPS (Graduate Prepared to Succeed) diploma or a more demanding GPS Plus diploma. The requirements are complex. In simple terms, students would complete 20 required course credits as freshmen and sophomores, then earn "points" from a menu of classes, internships, work-based and service-learning options as juniors and seniors. | | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
